From "Modern Major Yinglet", Chapter 14:
I admired myself in the mirror, the sight of it bringing a smile to my face. My fur still stood out, being the wrong color, but it was still good. I couldn’t help but draw myself up into a regal pose, as if standing at attention as an officer on duty. Then I turned around, circling in place but twisting to get a good look at myself from as many angles as I could. Which, with my impressively twisty neck, was a lot. All that was left was to see how it felt to wear for a while.
Holy crap, fanart! It still blows my mind that my silly little ramblings can inspire people to create things. In this case, fellow yinglet
TheYingletsGotMeAAsjdhakjhsdjh was struck with the image of Vayryn posing in the mirror and wanted to draw it! They aren't currently posting their artwork, but they gave me permission to post this here so I could share it. It's just so adorable and awesome, how could I not? ^_^ They've recently starting posting again, including their comic Anozher Self, so check them out!
Vayryn looks good in the Ivenmoth Red, doesn't she? And certainly smiles way more than Kass ever does. How would you have reacted if you saw this trotting along down the halls of the convention?

She looks so good, QuasarCreature did a great job on the piece. I was kinda worried Vayryn wouldn't be able to pull it off, especially with the fur color, but it looks great! ^_^
Oh, she got a bunch of selfies taken, I just couldn't really cover all of them more than a tiny line, "Sometimes they’d ask first, or they’d ask if I’d be willing to pose with them while a friend took the picture." The chapter was already nearly 10k words with eleven scenes in it, after all... In the next chapter, there's a spot where she's replying to pictures before making her own post about how much fun she had at the convention. Again, super short, but it happened. ^_^
So maybe you did get a selfie. Maybe Flopsy will be talking with Dr. Farley and he'll show off "Check out this picture I took a couple universes over in a couple years from now." ^_~ (Okay, probably not in canon...)

Yeah, it would be very repetative showing every single interaction, but I'd definitely try to get a pic with the first talking non human creature. Even if I didn't know what a yinglet is since you were the one to bring me into OOPs
Honestely if you do write that extra chapter with the hoofbuns meeting, I am very much hoping for some confusion between the two, maybe with a bit of worry about Dr Farley seeing her as a hoofbun/upset that he "knew" she was the superbunny before the confusion is cleared up~
I think I've said it before, but I was kinda planning on a bit of "When you said you 'had a twin sister', I thought that was your attempt at 'asking for a friend'. I didn't think there was actually a twin sister... Interesting that she wears different boots, though."
And possibly adding in, "Just like the two twin Superbunnies, one with regular hooves and one with steel hooves. ...What, you thought I wouldn't watch the videos that have been all over the news, about the 'Local Hero'?" Maybe that can be an ending for Book 2. ^_^

Just make sure to ask first. She can be a little skittish with humans she's not used to. They're big and scary and strong, and she's tiny and has limbs that would snap like twigs... ^_^;;
As for non-humans, well, she hasn't met any others yet. She's hoping there won't be any others (though she's starting to come around on the whole "nobody else could possibly actually want this" thing, so she's getting to where she hopes there won't be any others without their consent). Buuuut who would make something like this and never use it again? She knows there's gonna be others, it's just a matter of when. And she'll figure out how she feels about hugs from one once she meets one. ^_^

It's okay, she's not actually an officer. House Ivenmoth is fictional and part of a webcomic. Unlike yinglets, which really do exist in real life. But she's friends with a costumer who can hook her up with custom outfits. Caroline is probably gonna have quite the boost to her orders after Vayryn went around a convention wearing this.
Hopefully someone got pictures of her chatting with Valsalia. ^_^

It was pretty trippy to be the artist who suddenly meets a real-life member of the fictional species he created, too!
Also, if you thought suddenly being part of a fictional species was a trip, it's even worse when it's not even your fursona. Mary was a bunny before she got transformed, and she as not happy about being a tiny gangly-limbed scav. But she's getting better about it. She's gotten more used to the body, gotten the hang of adapting her living space to her needs, found ways to be more comfortable with a long tail instead of a short one. ...And that night with Corwyn at the convention, well... She's feelin' gooood.
...Until the consequences of that night roll around, which is the focus of Chapter 16. (Remember, yinglet mucus and other bodily fluids are "mildly corrosive", as Head Surgeon Merrs put it.)

Certainly makes one think, as an author...'course, I really haven't come up with many original types myself (aside from these critters,) but I'm probably one of the few people in history to put serious thought into what life as a clockwork automaton would be like o_O
(But then, many of my protagonists are deconstructions of myself, so who're they gonna complain to!?)
(But then, many of my protagonists are deconstructions of myself, so who're they gonna complain to!?)
If I saw a real-life hoofbun, I'd probably be shocked. And also jealous. ^_^ But that's the closest I've got to an "original species", and all I did was just mash two other animals together.
And my roommate loves clockwork stuff. The last few days, she's been in overdrive on that, like "can't stop feeling gears and springs inside her" level. Has to lean forward because a chair against her back messes with her key. So you're certainly not alone.
(And all my protagonists are based on me. Vayryn is like 95% me, Flopsy is like 80% me and is a concentration of parts of my personality, Princess is like 65% me and is based on "What if I never got over my denial about being trans?" Sometimes it's amusing to think of the "What if you and your characters met?" and it basically boils down to "They'd all notice how similar we are, and realize I'm a hack writer, right before getting annoyed at all the crap I put them through." Next chapter, Vayryn lays her first eggs, and it is just a never-ending conga line of humiliation for the poor girl.)

Haha, that's wild XD Funnily enough, the automaton thing just came out of one character's transformation in a round-robin story I led ages ago, which was chock-full of assorted TFs; but it grew on me enough to revisit it in another one, and when I got around to writing my first standalone novel and decided to do a deconstruction of some of the issues I was struggling with in my own college years, the metaphorical baggage (are you really just a machine, responding to stimulus with the patterned responses that people/society have programmed into you?) was too good to pass up...plus, what can I say, I just find 'em charming ;)
(And yeah, it'd be a trip to get all these other-selves together - call it "Three Authors In Search of a Character" ;P)

She's getting there! She was actually "admiring" herself in that scene, and grinned at the thought of Corwyn's reaction and the sight of him wearing the Reds too.
The convention went really well, too! She's been getting more used to herself, and learning all the little tricks to make things more comfortable, so she's actually been starting to like her new form. Little by little. She'll deny it, of course, but she did mention that she likes taking special care of her fur and getting it nice and soft... ^_~ And Corwyn really helped break down some of the barriers she was keeping up against herself, at the end of Chapter 15...
...of course, chapter 16 is gonna be all about the consequences of that night. It just keeps getting worse for the poor girl. Don't worry, another month or two, and she'll be making progress again after that setback! ^_^;;
