The King of Braves and King of Braves Jr.
Ever had one of those purchases you feared you might regret due to their cost but then they end up being everything you expected, and then some?
Well, this is one of those "well worth the money" purchases I made.
I was usually wary of Bandai's Soul of Chogokin and Super Robot Chogokin lines because they tended to suffer from joints turning loose rather quickly due to strain from diecast parts (which happened to my SRC Shin Getter and SRC GaoFighGar), but after going through many reviews and seeing that they appear to have learned *some* lessons (like adding ratchet joints in critical areas instead of balljoints or hinge joints), I decided to bite the bullet, and use the money I saved to buy the one of the two mecha I always desired to have in my collection: Soul of Chogokin GaoFighGar.
From online reviews I could tell the entire figure is big, but it wasn't until I finally had the entire thing assembled and combined that I realized just how massive it is and just how much attention to detail was given while making this thing. From all the little mechanical details you could see in close-ups during GFG's debut in GaoGaiGar Final OVA, to various bits and pieces having their gimmicks (like opening exhaust vents on the back of Stealth Gao for Hell and Heaven, drill segments spinning in opposite directions, functioning tank treads, additional fists with articulated fingers as seen in the photo etc.), this thing is well worth the price. Articulation is a bit limited due to trying to be screen accurate, but personally it doesn't bother me, and the less strain there is on ratchet joints, the better. And for size comparison I put it alongside the Super Mini-Pla version of GaoFighGar which I assembled last year. The good old "Don't talk to me or my son ever again" moment. <3

Yes it is! Phantom Gao and Drill Gao II have wowed me the most with the level of detail poured into them. I always loved Phantom Gao, there's something so damn cool about it, both in robot and hovercraft mode.
My only gripe with the fully combined GaoFighGar is that it doesn't exactly have an ankle pivot because of the bottom of GaoFar's legs poking out between the foot and heel. But the rest is fucking gorgeous.

Eeek, that's enough to make a person anxious. Would you be able to disassemble it to get some silicon grease in to help (provided it won't destroy the material), or loosen the screw so slightly? Or is it a pin joint that'd take a little too much effort and stress to do proper.
I know the fun of having those tolerances being too much to a point that you're terrified to move them. Like this guy. Memorizing the transformation for this beastie and gyaaaah. Getting his legs to move in the proper ways along with getting the panels to finally fit is nerve wracking.
Third party figures. Damn do they look good, but FUCK if they won't try to kill you getting them from point A to point B.

Also damn that's a cool take on Grimlock! I haven't dabbled too much with third party toys, only ones I have are NewAge Manero (Core class-sized G1 Jazz) which is absolutely fantastic, TR-01 Agent Meister/Hova (which came with a factory flaw, missing a pin that holds one of the wheels in place so it falls off without it although the store I bought it from has sent me the replacement which should arrive this month) and Make Friends Studio KD-01 (Deluxe class-sized G1 Sixshot), which is fairly cheap and solid for it's price.
You actually own an iron factory piece!! That Make Friends Sixshot is an oversize version of IF's Sixshot! Not sure the situation about how, but it's essentially IF's factory core figure shot with the size gun from honey I shrunk the kids. Another 4th party company, TNT I think, did an oversize of IF's Cyngus/Dark Cyngus, aka Jetfire/Shattered Glass Jetfire. I need to get it someday.
I honestly want to get ahold of a Sixshot, but I'm eyeing the big fellow, GCreations Fuuma, mainly because I love his tank mode. And usually, if they can make that mode look good, the others follow. Again, pricey though.
Though I'm detecting a theme. Does the artist enjoy Jazz like I do Warpath? LoL

Sweet! Yeah, it's $400 on TFSource normally, but it's on sale there for $300 right now. And I was just wondering, since one of the pictures they showed had Goldymarg attached holding the Goldion hammer. Unfortunately that set's out of stock, but that's fine. GaoFighGar is an awesome set by itself.
Awesome purchase, regardless! Are you a collector, by any chance? Or is this just an impulse purchase?

I tend to collect much cheaper stuff like Transformers and occasional non-TF mecha or sci-fi stuff.
My current collection, besides this figure, includes:
Knockoff versions of Masterpiece figures (MP-44 Optimus, MP-36 Megatron, MP-29 Shockwave, MP-28 Hot Rod and MP 12+ Lambor (Sideswipe with cartoon-accurate colors). Originals are waaaaaaaay too expensive for me, and these KOs deliver the same kind of quality as the originals while being a mere fraction of their originals' price.
TR-01 Meister (third party Transformers G1 Jazz), Studio Series 86 Jazz, NewAge Manero (smaller, Core class-scale third party G1 Jazz).
Legacy Tarantulas, Soundwave (Cybertronian form), Prime universe Knock-Out and Jhiaxus.
Studio Series 86 Sharkticon, Studio Series 86 Scourge and WfC: Kingdom Cyclonus.
Transformers Prime Vehicon.
SIC Kamen Rider Kuuga.
Soul of Chogokin Getter Robo Arc.
S.H. MonsterArts Alien Big Chap and Godzilla (Monsterverse 2021. version).
Boss Fight Studios Jenny and Mimi LaFloo from Bucky O' Hare.
Lightning Collection Remastered MMPR Red and Green Ranger.
Figma Doom Slayer.
Moderoid Mazinkaiser.
Super Mini-Pla GaoFighGar.
Master Grade God Gundam.
And currently upcoming Figma Samus from Metroid Dread.

Nice collection! I tend to just collect transformers (I've been collecting them since the 80's roughly), and it's way too extensive to list all of them. I agree on the KO stuff, but just be careful about the quality. Sometimes they're, well, obviously a KO in terms of quality. Just the stuff I have sitting around, though:

Yes it did, but I fixed it. It was a pain the ass (or a pain in my fingers, technically..), but I got it fixed. And I forgot to add that I have a PotP Optimus Prime on my shelves, also. I also have the original G1 Hardhead, original G1 Wheeljack, original G1 Roadbuster and original G1 Warpath around my room somewhere, I just can't see them right now.

I may have a problem. xD

I just wish I knew before hand that the Legacy version was coming out. I snagged the Kingdom one because I figured (rightly so) that my local Wally World wouldn't have it in stock for long. I also ordered the Kingdom Cyclonus from their website, just to get the toy deco version in the mail. It's a nice figure, don't get me wrong, but I don't like the deco for it. It did come with Nightstick, so I guess that's a plus. Still, I'd much rather have the Kingdom version as that's the one with the deco I associate with him.
