Phoenixes were also known for their elegant tail feathers, too. Thankfully not as stiff as a peacock, but more similar to some kind of gryphons that had feathers and not a leonine tail. Actually, why would he think of his leonine and avian cousins...he didn't even realize he thought of Gryphons as "cousins" and not as "Mythical creatures with the zillions of spellings."
