Lord of the Hell according to Greek mythology, he is also the ruler of the underworld. Despite his mortuary attributes, the link that closely binds him to the earth and its mysteries has often been represented by the horn of plenty, symbolising fertile soil, precious stones and other treasures.
However, in this artistic vision of the Lord of the Underworld surrounded by luminous souls, the horn of plenty pours out not fruit, vegetables and precious stones, but water. Given its place of life, or eternity as you prefer, this water is not that of the oceans or rivers, but that of underground lakes and groundwater.
Surprising as it may seem, water is an element in its own right in the underworld, often associated with life. And just as rainwater falls, as if to die, and is purified by the soil so that only its pure essence can remain, so it is with mortals whose bodies fall to the surface as dust and whose souls are refined before leaving for another life.
