i really do not have to listen to this.
i became aware of the 2005 mario "strikers" game this past week. i have no remote interest in playing it but I took some inspiration from and liberties with the character birdo's appearance.
all the cute-ish lizard-like characters --yoshi, kooper trooper, hammer hermano and birdo here-- wear ugly loose past-the-knee short pants that make them look more like basket ball players and decidedly not cute, yet garishly overmuscled donkey kong has totally naked legs. well they don't make these games for me, anyway. If I was going to play a soccer video game, and I wouldn't, but if I would, mario would not be in it. I prefer much more grounded in reality soccer heroes, like Mega Man

I decided that something egg shaped should be in the picture but the ball ended up not looking adequately egg-like so I fell back on my old habit of drawing lit fuses extending from inappropriate round objects.

I rented it once a long time ago! I liked that I could exploit it by using power shots that are impossible to block and always score at least one goal per segment, which was generally enough since the computer player would waste its power shots on non-goalkeepers. I wish Capcom would have made it yet less accurate to actual soccer; then I might have liked it even if it weren't unfair in my favor.
