INTRODUCTION:
I got into balloon twisting about a week ago from posting this out of self-interest, and I wanted to do something fun and silly for a local meetup, so I was like let's try making a tail! I was still learning the ropes, so it kinda happened when I was going over a bunch of YouTube tutorials.
I was greatly inspired by the balloon tails kthx_kai (Twitter) brought to Pawcon 2023 Further Confusion 2024. You can check out their balloon tails on his FurTrack Page:
https://www.furtrack.com/index/character:kai_2
MATERIALS:
> Ten 260 Twisting Balloons
- 2 Reds, 1 Orange, 1 Yellow, 1 Green, 1 Blue, 1 Purple, 1 Pink, and 2 Whites.
- Dual-Action Hand Pump
TUTORIALS USED:
> Isopresso Balloon's "Arch - Balloon Animals for Beginners #58"
https://youtu.be/_v6RNmjDteQ
- This was the structure of the tail! I fucked up when connecting the arch by pulling too hard but it worked out in the end to create this piece!
> Learn & Climb's "DIY BALLOON HAT - HOW TO MAKE A BALLOON HAT - LEARN AND CLIMB"
https://youtu.be/4RgBVSClnuw
- I was like looking at the balloon hat I made earlier and looking at kthx_kai's belt, and was like praying my shenanigans would work. I am very sure there is a better way to construct this, but my excuse was I was five days into learning from scratch.
QUICK Q&A:
Q: What balloon brand did you use?
A: Qualatex and their 260s! That's what Reddit said to use, and they work amazingly!
Q: Does it matter what colors you use?
A: No, I'm just gay, so I went with a rainbow lol
Q: Are you able to customize it with other add-ons and whatnot?
A: YEAH! Mine was basic because I was in a rush, but if I had to improve it, I would have added more support twists in the pink connection, since the tail can be wavy. Spikes, coils, or even a flower at the end could be silly additions!
ENDING NOTE:
I am like passively looking if there are any experienced balloon-twisting furries out there since I am still very new to balloon modeling/twisting. It's been very fun though and I hope I can learn to create more crazy things in the future!
