I've had a Bond for many years. Yea it's only 2 shots, but you're also not leaving it at home.

I've considered making quasi shotshell loads by loading 3 or 4 of the Lee 160 grain 45 caliber cast bullets into a 45-70 with some wadding at the bottom. Sure it's a .452" bullet in a .457" bore, but it's for spitting distance so long range accuracy doesn't really matter. Never actually done it though.

My mate has one, it is absolutely miserable with 405 grain +P bear loads, would recommend lol.

Heck with a +p you probably paint the target with a lot of unburnt powder. I’ll probably start with ammunition safe for any rifle.

Saw components for crafting .45-70 loads at a gun show here. Actually got to shoot a .45-70 rifle last Fall. A bit of a thumper!

Ya it definitely can be especially if it’s a lighter rifle.

One gun I will never own. the .45-70 hand cannon. Not enough barrel to remotely burn the powder fully. Just massively fireball flash effect. Plus a single shot, nope.
