And finally, there it was.
I'd fought my way through a horde of skeletons, goblins, and goblin skeletons. Nearly got crushed by closing walls. Been roughed up by a giant stone golem. And I'll have that horrid goo stuck under my wings for months.
But it was all for this; that glorious, gilded chest that lay untouched in the middle of the chamber. Surrounded by silken curtains which looked oddly pristine considering the state of the rest of the dungeon. Some magical preservation, perhaps? I can only hope such a spell reaches out to the treasure in here as well.
But I shouldn't get ahead of myself. After careful examination of the chest (read, whacking it with my sword a few times and seeing if any traps get set off), I unlatch it, push it open...
...and oh yes, there it is. Exactly the treasure I've been looking for...
