It’s a brand new year with so much potential. What will it bring? It will be up to us to decide!

Here are some thoughts about what is going on in my life/head.

Palworld

Naturally, being such a heavy Pokemon lover I would have something to say about the “Pokemon With Guns” game. I tried playing it and I absolutely love it. The gameplay is just about everything I wanted my Minecraft modification Kindred Legacy to be.

I’m so fond on the game and its critters that I plan on taking them and introducing them into my own Pokemon world. However, it is going to be something special that I’ll explain briefly in part.

An alien world has been discovered that is seeping with an aura that suppresses the divine power held by many of my characters, which is now referred to as “Zen.” This curiosity leads to the desire by the higher ups in the system of things to explore this new world and discover why divine power doesn’t function on its surface.

An expedition team of warrior goddesses and support titans are sent to explore the dangerous world inhabited by Pals. They would be led by Nu’Nyxia, whom herself is considered alien to the rest of my cast and experienced from traveling through the stars. The deities are reduced to mega mortal height upon the planet’s surface and stripped of much of their incredible divine power. Many of the sentient natives are naturally mega mortal height.

There would be lots of survival moments as the goddesses have to rely more on their natural Pokemon abilities while Zenythia’s laws are not fully functional. Yet this extreme environment they will find themselves in will lead to the discovery of Terastalization and be made canon for my world. Z-moves may also get special application here as well.

I was strongly inspired from a lore perspective to play with these ideas, which could still change slightly. The concept pulls inspiration from Cameron’s Avatar but probably most substantially a mostly unspoken plotline in “Annihilation Effect”, the story that Eclipsis and Aerisis come from. Since I don’t have a lot of interest in really writing that story, it’s exciting to see I may get some use out of it!

Like in Annihilation Effect, this Pal World will be full of natives themed after Native Americans, very tribal yet rich in mysticism that will be entirely new for my Pokemon characters to learn about.

Also with this being on an alien world, means that the Pal characters will not naturally appear in the settings my Pokegirls are in. So if you were worried about Pals being an everyday occurrence with my Pokemon girls, that won’t happen in canon.

I know not everyone will be too excited for me finally introducing non-Pokemon to my Pokemon world and why I went the extra length to keep Pals fairly isolated from my main cast.

Minecraft modding suspended

Due to events surrounding Minecraft Forge, I have suspended development on the modification until the newer NeoForge has been better established. I got badly stuck in the development of the modification and could not find people to help. I strongly believe this is because many of the devs that would help modders like me are planning on moving to NeoForge.

3D art learning begins

I began the process of learning 3D modeling and it will be a very slow process. But most importantly, I am doing SOMETHING; a little bit every week. With me suspending development on my Minecraft mod, I will be diverting some of that time to modelling education.

Cracked window at building

Barely into the year I had a big fiasco happen at my building. Due to the extreme cold, a massive window with BB gun holes in is from prior to the purchase cracked and needed to be replaced. I already had estimates on replacing the window that would cost about $1,500. The expense was so high and because the holes I knew were quite old, I felt it would last and didn’t need to be replaced. I ended up being very wrong.

As the cold went on the window continued to crack in more places and there was a panic of if it would even last until I could get a replacement installed. Thankfully, my tenant has a paralegal who is involved in real estate and very knowledgeable about handiwork that he was able to patch up the window. As of this writing, we are still waiting for the replacement but the window has held.

For the expense, I tried getting my insurance to cover part of the cost but they refused, citing this was just normal wear on the building and nothing extraordinary about -35F wind chill. My tenant however, decided to try to make a claim on her own business insurance and to my total surprise, her insurance would cover the window. My tenant just asked for me to cover the $500 deductible. Which I was more than happy to do compared to the $1,500 mess I was looking at. And it was the right thing to do because I really should have gotten that window replaced in the first place. But that was around the time of having to purchase a new HVAC system when the window replacement was first considered; as she was getting really to have a sign installed on the window.
