ArpegiusWolf mentioned pit bulls a few days ago and, when someone does that, I cannot shut up or leave them alone. x3 So one thing lead to another and we got to complaining about the lack of pit bull fursuits and, more specifically, Avatars on SL. There's one, but there's no support for it what so ever, very limited colors and marking choices, and it just so happens that I do know how to 3D model and create things for SL.
So we're thinking of maybe trying to make our own line of avatars... assuming we can figure out how to texture them. >.>
I did this kind of randomly in Intro to Video Production (which was boring with a capital b, o, r, i, n, and g), since I was thinking about it and love to doodle pibbles. The two cropped ear headshots on the top started as fanart for AW's conceptual pit bull suit. But I kind of drifted after that.
I like doodlin pibbles, yus I do.
Not sure if I like the toony heads or the more realistic heads better, in terms of design.

Pitbulls are so much fun to draw X3 I doodle them a lot. For some reason their heads are the best part O_o
ANYWAY! I rather like the semi-realistic heads a bit better. The cartoony ones just seem a bit too...cartoony? Poor excuse I know XD Bear with me.
Semi-realism and cartoony paws would look neat though.
Either way, it would be neat to see what you could do with a 3D rendering :D gawd I love the anatomy here though :3 It's sketchy, but it fits properly!

I think a nice hybrid between toony and realistic would work...Plus, I love exaggerated paws. Big hands and big feet. X3
We can't go with super realistic, 'coz it would end up looking too much like the TBA pit bull av...BUT, we could add more expressions. Brow expressions and muzzle ones. the TBA one is seriously lacking in the derpy happy pibble face.
I'll doodle up some ideas for an avatar.....tomorrow....or this weekend. I dunno. X_x

Yeah I'm leaning a little closer to semi-realism, rather than derp toon. x3 It's just more of my style of doing things. I can't even do hyper realistic in 3D so you don't have to worry about that. Something more realistic than the toons here, definitely.
Yessssss. Needs more silly pibble faces. <3 That requires coding a HUD though and I have no idea how to do that. I wonder if maybe there are tutorials hanging around somewhere.

Most furry avs are somewhere in between anyway. so it'll work. I don't like the super realistic ones or the super toony ones...they just look out of place among the other furs.
We could just do it with commands...Aventity(sp?) avatars don't come with a hud...but they also don't have many features (which totally works for their avs)...I'm sure there are coding tutorials and free use scripts.
I'm not entirely sure how to do it, but I have done things like transplanted the tongue and the scripts from the pit bull jaw to the CHIMERA bull terrier jaw so that it could use the TBA hud for the tongue expressions. :B

I have a pretty rad pitty av on SL made by Twice Baked, although the shop I got it from may have closed, although I got it within the last month. :3
But yeah, Pit bulls are amazing. Recently made the switch from being a doberman, since it was getting kinda... crowded in the dobie pool. Plan to be a pibbul for a long time, though :3

There is actually. A group called Twice Baked made a pit bull avatar which you can give natural ears (it comes with a hud that let's you customize the ears, the expression, eye color and so on). Looks very nice, but is very limited in terms of colors and marking choices.
