YCH staring Yours Truly, @Wolfbyt, @Brikan, and Janek5
These Cav-Scouts are awaiting orders when they notice a 2nd Lieutenant approaching their track. Karata, thinking quickly, tells his crew "Look at that, time for 2nd Breakfast". As the 2nd Lt. came up to the M3, before even getting out what she wanted from them, just asked "Didn't your unit just have breakfast?"
"Yes, we're having a second Breakfast" PFC Brikan replied "Who likes Macoroni Jumberri?"
"Ooh!" Spc Conner replied "Toss that here! I'll have it for lunch!"
"Aren't you having that right now?" Sgt Karata asked before taking a bite of his Inside out pizza"
"Come-on! Sergeant" 2nd. Lt. Claire blurted out. "Get control of your men! I need your track for a recon"
Karata jumped down from his M3, and crossing his arms at the Lt "You understand Lieutenant, that we're not under your chain of command. We're not even part of it."
"What's your point Sergeant?"
"My point Lieutenant" Karata started "Boys, the Butter bar here is missing something."
Conner placed his meal on the Bradley "I do believe she is Sarge".
"What are you doing?"
Twenty minutes later, one of the infantry platoons get a message over the radio:
"We have your Butter Bar. Bring us two boxes of your best MREs if you want her back."
For those wondering, Yes this perfectly legal. An officer, while they may have authority over any enlisted, are not really allowed to just give orders to whoever they want. They have to be under their direct chain of command, even if they're part of the same overall unit.
Claire is an Infantry Officer, and what she was wanting was to have this M3 do a scouting mission for her platoon during an exercise. While such a request would normally be perfectly reasonable, she should have her own troops perform the mission. Cav Scouts are normally tasked for recon missions by a more Armored officer or higher ranking Infantry officer (Major or Lt. Col), and such a recon mission would be conducted by the entire Cav Scout platoon, not by a single track.
As for the hostage situation... don't worry, these guys only took her weapon, protection, and outer blouse. She's tied up in the back of their track, waiting for the prized MRE boxes. "Butter Bar" 2nd Lieutenants commonly try to assert their authority... and learn the hard way from Sergeants that their authority ends at the cohesion limits of their platoon. They usually get through this by the time they become 1st Lieutenants (O-2), or Captains (O-3).
