Space being cold is actually a misconception.
There is no termal conduction, meaning that you can only cool by radiating infrared.
This also mean that if you are close enough from a star, you'll get more energy from it than you can lose to space and end up fried ^^
EDIT: I fact checked myself, and the energy lost to radiation might be more significative than I thought
