Traditional media is pretty easy to get lost in.

For me it was colored pencils and realizing that the reason they looked so bad when I used them as a child is that I never pressed hard enough or used enough to really fill in the color.

Nice work on this guy.

And curious that you mention it, too I realized that, to get the color to look good you need to saturate with pigment, blending medium doesn't hurt either (such as mineral spirit) but also choosing a good paper, among other things.
