Before she was taken prisoner and enslaved by her dark kin, the being Diandra used to be was an Elven herbalist of no particular status, with training in spear and bow as per the statutes of an Elven levy. Since then, she had been tortured and experimented on, culminating in her being painfully fused with an abyssal hydra, Kalkaros, as part of an attempt to control the unruly beast.
In the end though, her tormentors were right about one thing and one thing only: Kalkaros would listen to her.
Due to the warping and mutating effects of the dark magic used in their forced union, Diandra remains painfully aware of how robbed she is of her Elven birthright as part of the monster she has become. In spite of this however, deep down both she and Kalkaros have secretly grown to enjoy each other's boons too much to consider any other alternative.
