Feel free to leave a comment. I don't care if it's criticism, praise, or a mix of both.
They had somehow managed to make their presence hidden until the last moment, both appearing in the middle of the bridge connecting one island to the next, and both in lands that they would normally never be seen in. Quiverns, and 'boss' ones at that if their size is of any indication. Both of them were just large enough to effectively block the way forward, emphasizing it by how the one on the left bumped its belly into the other, who did flinch slightly but otherwise held fast.
A glare from the more active of the two would fall onto the traveler, along with the more relaxed look of its twin following shortly after, like they were expecting something. They haven't attacked, which is good, but the glaring one would soon shift. Bringing their left arm into view and pointed a claw at the traveler, they would then poke at their rather rotund belly, repeating the gesture a couple more times. It wouldn't have been clear on what the two wanted had the relaxed one's stomach grumbled, rather audibly.
They were hungry, and given the spot they're blocking, they were collecting a 'food toll'.
I'm having too much fun with the quivern. >u>
