This... iiiiis.... easily, quite easily, the best thing I've done in a long, long time. Best, not even like, technically speaking. Just, all around, in terms of the overall WORTH of a piece of art I've done, this is just... way too huge. And my friends, I believe this is only the launchpad.
So, I wrote and drew this comic.
Claire_laMouf refined, touched up, colored, shaded, and utterly mystefied it.
Dream on, dreamers. Dream on.

Oh, the magic of childhood. Where does it all go when you grow up? I love it. This is easily one of the sweetest and most awesome things I've seen in all my time on this site. The art is simply amazing, but the way it handles the essential magic of childhood and the bonds of friendship that those early games could forge makes this all the better. The shift in mood between the first panel and the last makes it all the more touching.
It reminds me so much of my own childhood. An empty field could be anything I wanted it to be and all you needed for any essential prop was what you could find lying around. Sticks and rocks were magical things when I was little. I consider myself incredibly lucky that, when I grew up, I was able to channel all of that imagination and creativity into my writing. But I still remember where I came from with fondness and it's work like this that helps me hold on to that.
Sorry to ramble on at you at length like this. But this is so wonderfully done I couldn't resist.

It's worth noting that I come back to FA only occasionally, see I've got over 400 submissions to get through, and of those 400+ this is easily the best piece. In fact I don't think I've faved anything by another artist yet today. A-f*cking-plus, mate.
Incredible coloring job too, so pass on my most ebullient, maddest props to Clairelamouf too.

This is really something. The whole feel of it is great, and I love the panel background art. Panel 3 is probably my favourite, panel 10 (bottom left) a close second. It won't have the same meaning to me as it has for you in a long shot, but I'll gladly take the technical aspect of it. Cause thats awesome enough.
This is the kind of stuff that made me love Bill Waterson. It's using childhood experiences to look at What Beauty There Is In Life.
This made me think of my best friends growing up, and still today, who I tabletop roleplay with as their parents introduced us all to it. We used to get kicked off the playgrounds at school, so we would walk the perimeter playing Make Believe. This tradition carried into Junior High.
To this day, I cannot hold an in-depth conversation without pacing.
