Experiments with colored outlines, color keyed shadowing and an alternative (sorta) artstyle that's a little more cartoony.
The whole revelation on how to do colored outlines is a game changer for me and luckily someone pointed out an easier way than my convoluted discovery. This drawing serves as a test bed for those color changing outlines, shadows and a slightly different artstyle. The shadowing was done with a method totally different than my normal one where I normally just manually make a pallet of lighter and darker colors for a character and keep them as presets. This time I used the 'semi-transparent' black layer shadow method to which I then faded in a little orange and blue. Obviously this is far from perfect and is basically a rough draft concept as for what's to come and the effects proper probably wont make a significant appearance until I hone these techniques a little more. (also was a nice little diversion from comic & prologue only production)
So stay tuned.
