Features Ren who belongs to me and a good friend, Azen.
From The Ashes
By
Ren
The dragon had done it. He had conquered the land, spreading his hellfire and torching many villages, rendering them to smoldering ash in his burning, seemingly unstoppable rage. Sitting in the charred remains of his old village, he tried to remember why he became this way… watching as the sun set over the mountains, still green with forest from the river at the base quenching the raging heat of the fire he started. A stark contrast to the charred and burnt trees from his once beautiful forest… what he could remember of it at least.
A small, orange bird landed on a burnt wooden post, interrupting the dragon's thoughts. The dragon opened his maw, about to torch it with his hellfire when it spoke to him… “Your name is Ren… correct? What you can remember of it at least I hope…” the orange bird spoke, the dragon suddenly froze, the blaze burning in his throat dimming down as his name was spoken, a flood of memories coming back to him, crashing through his body like a tsunami, washing away most of his rage and quenching the fire in his body… for the first time in awhile… he cried… he cried and wept, sobbing his eyes out as he realized all he did, all the destruction and burning of what he found dear. From his forest he loved to the beautiful buildings and amazing people he realized he had destroyed so much… the rage melted away as he cried it out, flowing like a river as he remembered all he did.
“You have someone who wants to see you Ren… a friend I hope you remember you hold near and dear to your heart… come and follow me if you wish to see him… have him forgive you for what you did.” The bird, which Ren finally realized was a phoenix, opened its wings, flapping off towards the setting sun. “A sign of rebirth… from the ashes of what I did…” Ren said to himself as he took off, following the phoenix, hoping for this phoenix to guide him to a brighter future.
