Meet Jannik! Some of you might recognize him, as he has a previous owner, KresniktheProtogen from whom I adopted him -like everything else you'll see me post for a while- a good long while ago. And now I'm finally getting around to posting him!
I'll be honest, I was a fan of this character for quite a long time and when the time came for an opportunity to acquire him I really couldn't resist. The design (this ref in particular is by Prairie_Goblins) is a nice, solid feeling and simple one, and there's a lot of charm to be found in that. The name was kept the same as the original owner's in part because it's printed on the sheets, but also because it just sort of fits how he feels. That and Kresnik was cool with it, so why not? I'm still puzzling out re-imagining him personality- and backstory-wise, but I suspect much of his characteristics will remain consistent with that of previous art featuring him (which you'll see a bunch of in between other posts in the near future).
So here's the bio I have so far.
Jannik Strom
Male - Wolf - Bi(?)
6'7" (he's rather huge)
Occupation: Jannik works in construction, primarily pouring foundations for buildings, a job that's very hungry work (I'm still working this out but this is a stand-in that may or may not become official)
Personality: While he's friendly, Jannik can be very rough and even callous as he has a lot on his plate that he has to get through in a day (to include people sometimes when the urge strikes). His exceptional "Hunger" (a feature of the original) can make it hard for him to have long-term friends unless said friends are careful about when they spend time with him. He's easy to get along with, but once that need to eat strikes him, if you're the nearest edible thing, it doesn't matter who you are anymore. Sorry, not sorry.
As most of my characters exist in a semi-continuity with each other, Jannik would make his place among the "modern" character group alongside Natalia, Nikki, Pepper, and a few others. Unlike the others, he possesses a somewhat primordial "Hunger" that harks back to the ancient days of his wolf heritage that a few unfortunate(?) members of his specie have. Though it's thought to be influenced by lunar phases, it's unclear if this is true or not as the urge can sometimes appear to strike without warning. When this happens, it is readily apparent to onlookers, as Jannik's pupils constrict to a point of being invisible and he takes on a manic, voracious aura. During the full moon, this is taken a step further as his body tenses up, muscular action hunching him and making him appear far larger (to be seen on the cartoon-nude ref soon to be posted). This probably makes him the most dangerous of all the modern characters in the roster given he actually has something akin to special powers (beyond, y'know, all the characters having the power to swallow people whole and digest them.)
