I snapped the picture and the next instant realized I was looking out of the bear's eyes, my mind trapped inside its lifeless immobile body. I had unknowingly taken the place of the previous victim of the Native American curse who now occupied my body...

Confession: I swiped the idea from (or was inspired by) "Axolotl," a short story by Argentine author Julio Cortazar (he wrote the short story that was adapted into the famous 1960's movie "Blow-Up"):
