The world of socks may be a magical world, but it isn't great enough for the sock creatures to fend from their predators any better than their organic counterparts. This big sock bird, for example, can fly like any normal bird without the need for any feathers but when ambushed, it is completely unable to physically overpower its predators and is inevitably swallowed whole by this tree snake looking for a hearty sock meal to consume. At least all socks do not need to breathe at all to live, it just knocks them out after enough time without breathing in fresh air. The snakes, both organic and sock beings, don't care that it means swallowing them alive since unconscious prey is non-resistant prey, the most opportune time to swallow them headfirst or feetfirst. As for inanimate socks, it's down to personal preference if they wrap around them first, pretending to or really constricting the socks as with every other meal before the sock is gulped down through the coils toefirst, heelfirst, or cuff-first.
