Cervus elaphus

I've had this image in the back of my head for a long time. The idea first came to me while I was studying Palestrina's Sicut Cervus; I had a vision of that said Cervus drinking from a stream.

Despite that the fact that Palestrina gave me the idea, I was actually thinking of the 1st movement of Mahler's 1st Symphony while painting this. I think it suits it quite well.

I actually may just paint scenes based on the other movement. That sounds like fun.
