Sweet oblivion, broken up by flashes of serene dreams, rolls into a wash of snorts and sighs. Elain dreaded the arid air. Cracking an eye, she found a sea of mossy pebbles rising and falling like an ocean wave. Hoisting herself on to arms, she yawned, her face and scalp itching with matted hair and dried spittle. God, she could use some water. The headboard agreed, though a sharp intake and rub of scales against her thighs alerted her that she wasn't the only one cursed with consciousness.
Rolling off his side, a cozy iguana, unmarred by bed hair or stuffy weather, snorted, his low trill of a chuckle vibrating along the mattress sheets. Too pleased with himself, he smiled, curling his arms back behind his head to expand his airways.
"Mornin'."
Elain chapped her lips once before replying.
"Mhou...rrr...mmm..."
