buttons, power port, and joystick are all assembled!!!
XD and boy howdy am i glad i boutght some spare parts, because not everything fit like it should.
so, this is a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT lever with an EX Groove removable stick, a pink Bubbletop Bullet topper, custom acrylic washer, and a Bit Bang Gaming Shuriken PCB with E-Switch 50 gram microswitches.
beside it are Crown 202 buttons with mix matched colors of pink and green, and Dirty Panda mechanical keyboard switches inside. (i dare ANYONE to name even ONE arcade stick that uses Dirty Pandas, they are the definition of niche in the custom world.)
and finally, a Neutirik power port with some green 3D printed inserts for stability.
XD i had intended to test between 50 gram and 75 gram microswitches for the joystick, but the 75 gram ones didnt fit.
75 is the standard, and i mainly got the 50 ones to be a contrarian and see if lighter microswitches would work better. but now it looks like i'm gonna have to either stick to my guns and use these, or admit defeat and buy a different set for 75 grams that fits.
(the grams measurement is for the force it takes to press the button of the switch, not how heavy the switches. a buttons "weight" tells you how much force you need to push it.
the buttons use mechanical switches that require 60 grams to bottom out, so i figured similar weight for the jotstick's buttons makes sense. HOWEVER, i have no clue if the fact that its a lever means that button weights feel lighter due to the fact its a simple machine redistributing work force.
XD need me that cartoon court room where they resolve problems with science and physics lessons to explain to my cub brain how a joystick lever works and what microswitches might be better)
aaaaaaanyway. so. this stuff is basically done. now i just need to modify the model i got for the casing, 3D print it, and assemble.
... -w-; and get the screws and heat inserts i forgot to buy.
you can call me a nerd for knowing about this stuff, but tbh i'm a laywolf at best and only know because i like building stuff and care about quality. literally anyone could learn this.
:3 excited to show you when this is done!
(also i mistakingly cut my fingie while taking stuff apart, soooooo does that mean i applied a blood sacrifice to this controller? and it so will that embue it with power?)

XD i love how EVERYONE is in agreement that this joystick looks like a lollypop or a pacifier, i wasnt even trying to do that. :3 but i'm glad it works.
for the record, i HAVE licked this. but i dont do it actively. ;w; its not as fun as you'd think, it tastes like Blank.
