Thank you so much
stepswitcher for making this tier list. I sincerely appreciate it, because not only can I express the modular subjects that I’m into and not, but you included a ton that I’m super passionate about that fuel my modular artwork. Again, I sincerely appreciate that these are simple, understandable visuals that go with the different facets of modular for me and other modular furs to use to communicate our interests. They’re well-done.
I will discuss some of ones in my top tier as to why they’re so appealing to me. Here we go!
Detachable Head
This I put as #1 on my Tier List, because I find the most joy in the character having a detachable head out of any part body of theirs. In other words, I'm nowhere as interested in modular artwork where the character's head is attached to their body, despite having detached some other parts. Around 90% of the joy I get out of modular comes from the anthro animal's head being separate from their body.
The head is my favorite part when detached because all of the features it has. Primarily, it’s because the head has the face; I love how anthropomorphic animal faces can make a bunch of expressions, and those expressions look even cooler when done by a variety of species. However, I don’t like pulling off the face alone, because of the geometry. The face is more like a plane, a sheet of paper, a bit flimsy, whereas the head is more like a cube or a sphere, solid and held together nicely.
Other features that the head contains is the snoot, which is so adorable and satisfying to me. I particularly enjoy longer snoots than shorter ones. Additionally, for furry characters, there are a ton of species, that come with cool-looking ears, horns, antlers, neck spikes, fins, you name it. I feel like all of those features are enhanced when the head is alone. Just my taste.
Not only that, but there are other reasons why it’s the head I like to detach. On a more functional sense, the head is the control center for the rest of the body and has the main the sensory organs: eyes, ears, nose, tongue. Thus, because the head is such an important part, letting another character hold it shows a lot of trust. Also, by holding the character’s head, you’re holding the part that’s doing most of the perceiving because of those sensory organs. So that’s why it’s adorable for me to be good and gentle the modular furry heads.
And last, the head holds the brain which has the character’s essence and personality. So by detaching the character’s head, in a sense, I’m also appreciating how the character thinks. Overall, it’s a combination of all those aspects to why I like detaching the head the most.
Meaty Stumps
I guess this one is a matter of appearance; it’s hard to put into words. I think it’s cute to see that the character is made up of simple meat and bones, that they are an alive thing, but I do not like to get too detailed with those stumps to make it gorier. It’s supposed to be a silly, cartoony thing for me.
Also, having the meaty stumps is to shows the detachment, and where exactly the part came from. But more importantly, having meaty stumps is an easy way to break up the colors between the character’s stump and skin. For some reason, I don’t enjoy it as much when face for the stump is the same color as the character’s skin. That’s just my taste. The main color I choose for the meat in the stumps is pink or magenta. Thus, if I had a character with pink skin, I would make that stump color a very light pink, almost white, or some completely different color like cyan.
If it’s not cartoon meat and bone stumps, I at least like to have the color be something separate from the character’s main body color as my preference, as like an accent color.
Gentle
This aspect is super important to me, because it makes modular as something endearing to the characters. I love being so gentle to the modular heads and treating them nicely. It really tugs on my heart strings when a furry character wants to lose their head and hand it over to another one to be just to be trusting, vulnerable, and a little embarrassed. And in turn, they get completely rewarded for surrendering that precious part of theirs with nice, loving pets, hugs and snuggles. It’s so sweet.
Being Detached and Detaching Others
I’m super happy that these two were included on the tier list, because I’ve made submissions on this that can create rather affectionate interactions between my OCs.
Having your head detached versus detaching other characters’ heads have very different meanings. I see being detached versus detaching others as being appreciated versus doing the appreciating respectively.
For having my head detached, I love being vulnerable and maybe looking a little stupid losing my head as a fun, silly dragon. And for whoever takes my head off, I like them to joke around, saying they’ve “slain the dragon” and show my head off, as I smile all embarrassingly. It’s weird. Thus, I like receiving the attention and affection. It kind of makes me love myself more for being a cartoony cyan dragon.
In contrast, for detaching others’ heads, I like that they’re willing to trust me, and I love keeping their heads safe, giving it tons of affection for what kind of furry they are: species, personality, and attitude toward modular. Their attitude toward modular can be if they’re new and nervous about it or if they’ve done it for a while and will give up their head super easily as if they didn’t want it. Both are super cute.
Overall, I’d say I’m 40% having my head detached and 60% detaching other character’s heads. So, about even. Despite me being super affectionate with my dragon body made headless and my head being alone, I’d say I slightly like the position of pulling off and cradling the other character’s heads more. It’s because I have a ton of OCs and with each new one, I gently pop off and hold their head; each one gives a new level of cuteness. Simply put, I just love all the different species with lone male anthro animal and plane heads.
Headless and Bodiless
The body looks cool when the character has their head missing. Despite that, in my modular submissions, if there’s going to be a headless body, I’ll have the head in the shot as well because it really is the bodiless head I enjoy more, but the headless body always adds to the submission for me to give clues to how the character is feeling with their head off.
TLDR: Here are my favorite aspects of modular and why I like them, mostly about detachable heads.
Well, that’s about it. I could go on and on about modular, as it’s the furry specialty that I love most.

I’m actually surprised about the interests that appear in your tier list, specifically these 3: null, monorumps, and suggestive. In the suggestive part, I can see someone sitting on another person’s disembodied head, which I find surprising to find out that it is something that you like. I’m also surprised to find out that you are at least okay with monorumps, which are inherently very fetishy. Null seems to be the least surprising to me because of those certain modular pics you marked as mature for being quite sexually suggestive.
All in all, I do find your list to be fascinating.

Oh, good point. Even though I'm not into that exact example of what was in the picture of someone sitting on another character's lone head, I'd say there are other suggestive modular pieces I like, such as the Mature works that I post. It was more about the caption "suggestive" than the image that I though it was fair for me to put "suggestive" under "I like it." And yes, exactly, you mentioned the Mature sexually suggestive pieces with the nulls I've submitted- that's why "suggestive" landed in the middle tier.
And yeah, monorumps, I don't have much of an opinion of. They just cute, okay, and decent to me.
Hey, thanks, Parker. Glad you find my list to be fascinating.

Haha, yes! I think that's pretty cute. The meaty stump can make the character look rather delicious, which adds to the cuteness factor. x3
Definitely! You can treat that helpless head very nicely, which so sweet, and a big part of why I love modular.
I agree on that. The head is my favorite part to detach, and I do enjoy having my head detached by others as well. Also, it would be very cute since we're both dragons.
