I was thinking recently of the concept of tail bursts. For many transformation enthusiasts, they are a staple of the genre. A sudden release physically and symbolically via the mechanism of one's recently grown tail tearing through one's pants. However, as I'm sure many are aware of, even if they aren't always willing to admit, it's a bit of a fantastical concept. Tails, however sturdy, are still coming against modern materials that are arguably able to easily withstand the pressure of a new growing appendage.
As such, my mind drifted toward the more likely results of a developing tail and their supposedly arch-nemesis. To this, I came to two conclusions. The tail would either slip down the leg of the containing pants or the pants themselves would begin to sag down. The latter due to the tail coming to the lip of the pants or the resulting pressure breaking the pant's button and/or zipper and forcing the pants to become pushed down by sheer weight or lack of tightness.
It certainly makes me wonder how it would feel to have the clothing that you've known all your life suddenly becoming displaced by elements that you've never before physically known. Fabrics brushing along unfamiliar skin and fur as you struggle to keep a modicum of decency or denial of reality.
Never mind the rest of the changes all happening at the same time...
Anyway, those were just some of my thoughts. While I do enjoy a good tail burst I think I can appreciate some of the alternatives as well.
However you enjoy your growing tails versus pants, I think we can all agree on one thing.
Tails in all their forms are simply awesome!
A lesser-known favorite Vaporeon TF of mine. Has just that right amount of balance between humanity and change that I enjoy so much. I can just imagine how it would feel to physically feel the swish of my new Vaporeon tail as my new digitigrade paw alights upon the ground. My grasping hands feeling just ever so restricted by their developing webbing.
Just such a delightful concept.
