You know, the lighting in the dining room is kind of crap. There's a lot of detail that the camera couldn't pick up on :c Oh well, maybe I'll get some better photos later.
Anyway, infodump forthcoming:
This is my second attempt at a character plush, and the only success. I couldn't even figure out how to attach arms and legs onto the first one so yyyeah, I think this is a step up. There are plenty of things I would do differently if I was making another plush in the future, but this is good enough for now, I'm really pleased with it!
The body is made out of cream-colored fleece dyed with Prismacolor markers. I was going for as few seams as possible, and so the main pattern is pretty much two complete silhouettes with a muzzle attached to one and a tail attached to the other. The tail, cheekfluff and headfur are made of faux fur. Everything is stuffed with Poly-fil.
There's also a skeleton made of paper-wrapped floral wire inside. He can be put in pretty much any pose, as demonstrated in the artsy shots, and as you can see, with careful positionining he'll stand up totally on his own ( :V )
The eyes and nose are made of painted Sculpey over regular teddy bear eyes. I made my own nose because the store didn't have one small enough, and I made covers for the eyes because the teddy eyes on their own looked pretty soulless and creepy, lol.
All the clothing was made from scratch, the only exception is those little blue shoes. I already had those lying around, so...
A couple things:
Pawpads? No, I don't draw Vaughn with pawpads, but the plush really needed something on the hands to not look so bare. They're pretty great for reinforcing the direction of the hands.
Shouldn't the shoes be brown? Yeah they should. I thought about painting them, and I would have if they were any other color. But Vaughn's already got a recurring sky blue motif, so for now I'm gonna just roll with it.
Will you make more outfits for him? I wanted to, but I probably won't because it took SO long just to get those clothes on him. x_x
He's about 18" tall from floor to eartips, or about 46cm. For a better idea of scale, here he is next to a wig head: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c.....ushsizeref.jpg
I don't know how much time I spent on him. TOO LONG. Sewing is not very fun.
Vaughn belongs to my dumb face as always!

Err, didn't say that quite right.. I mean, I know it was to give them more depth, but like.. The eye is set into it or? XD I guess what I'm trying to figure out is that the eye is the shiny part surrounded by lighter Sculpey? Because you could just mold your own eyes, paint them, and then coat them in resin so they are glassy looking.
The teddy eyes were completely covered in a thin teardrop-shaped layer of Sculpey and then an entirely new iris/pupil was painted on. I tried just setting them into the Sculpey at first, but I couldn't get that to look right. So yeah, the teddy eyes are pretty much just there for backing.
