Ingredients
8 ounces, weight Ziti Pasta
1 cup Part-skim Ricotta Cheese
1 package Italian sausage
1 onion, chopped
1 heaping tablespoon chopped garlic
¾ cups Finely Grated Parmesan Cheese, Divided Use
1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, Divided
Salt And Pepper, to taste
26 ounces, fluid Jar of Your Favorite Pasta Sauce (tomato)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente, according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
Break up the sausage and sauté with the onion and garlic until semi-cooked.
In the bottom of a shallow 2-quart casserole dish, spread half of the tomato sauce. Top with the cooked pasta, then the ricotta mixture and then the remaining sauce. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan and remaining mozzarella. Place casserole on a rimmed baking sheet (used glass casserole dish, just grease it ahead of time with a tablespoon of olive oil for easy clean up) and bake until top is browned and sauce is bubbling, 35 minutes.
LAYERS ARE VERY IMPORTANT when making this dish! When its all together, you can leave it in your fridge covered until ready to cook or freeze to cook at a later date (will keep for about 6 months, covered)
Enjoy!!!
