A lot of people are upset about many major gaming companies like Blizzard, Microsoft and EA having greedy and unethical business models and even including things like pay to win mechanics. Some people, not all of them, claim that "The system is to blame and the people with the money hold the power", I agree that the people with the money do hold power, but you might be surprised to hear that the money and power are in the hands of the customer. Ironically the system that these people complain about is the same system that they can use to bring about change. Your money has power. And you are giving that power to the companies who's business model centers around greed. If you don't agree with these outrageous prices, micro transactions, unwarranted bans and pay to win mechanics, then stop giving them money, because when you give them money, that tells them that they are doing something right. These companies still have expenses of their own like labor, equipment, and taxes so their money will be depleted and they more than make up for this with the money you give them. At the end of they day, they want your money, and once they start losing that money, they will do just about everything to get that money back so if the customers don't give them money, they will do everything in their power to make customers want to give them their money. It may be hard at first, but like with recovering from an addiction, it becomes much easier with support. None of us can do it on our own, but we can do it together. We love these games and these gaming companies, but we hate the evil things that they have done and we can't continue to reward them for doing evil. I like to think of it like this: the people complaining but not doing anything are floating down a river, only that river is a conveyor belt for these companies, and by staying on that conveyor belt, you let these companies have your money. If you love these games but hate these bad business practices, then you must get off that conveyor belt, say "We don't like your business model!" and encourage others to do the same. Jesus says that if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can tell a mountain to move from here to there, and if that amount of faith can move mountains, then that same amount of faith can change a company's business model for the better. Better for the customer and better for the business. This post is like a mustard seed, very small, but it can grow into a huge tree, and it all starts with YOU.
