Illustration for a short story that I have absolutely fallen in love with, written by my dear partner  Zero_Leaf
It's about two adolescents and their friendship with an equally adolescent gryphon. This one! =3
This illustration is the first one in a series, and for the next week and a half I'll be posting one drawing for each of the 9 chapters. Doing them was quite an undertaking, as back in 2022 I was drawing much slower compared to my today's pace, and I am more than happy with the result!

The story is set in non-magic bourgeois world and the first chapter opens with a main character - a girl called Hannah being utterly upset finding a cliffhanger on the last page of a book she just read. She dug through every book in the house library to find the continuation but to no avail, and since they live quite remote, buying it is not an option either. Her good friend - gryphon named Kaern - steps in to soothe her out of the downed state of mind.
Sometime later an unexpected carriage arrives with guests who come to visit. Introducing the second main character - adolescent young man Nicole, who comes from (I think) somewhat-high-born family over at the city. He is an old friend to Hannah and is absolutely nope with being next to a wild gryphon, even though the gryphon is her friend as well.
Hannah decides to ease the tensions by preparing a tea for three of them, time passes, adolescents have some catching to do and after two empty tea cups only the gryphon remains over at terrace.
He contemplates about what it meant for Hannah to present three tea cups equally and what it means for his cup to remain untouched.
