Introducing Ethan and Diana, two new characters of mine from an older time period. Ethan is a young peddler/trader who travels from town to town with his cart and his human partner Rhodes. In a story I am working on, the pair stop at a town and are surprised to find they have picked up a hitchhiker! Diana, a female doberman, hides away in their wares as soldiers pursue her. Ethan discovers her, but he does not reveal her presence to his partner until they are well out of town.

During the course of their travels, despite Rhodes' protests Ethan falls in love with the doberman as she searches for her home. She carries a locket which allows her to identify it's location relative to her position, and a leather journal which chronicles her story. She is a skilled archer, able to hit targets at a significant distance while in motion.

At present I don't think either of them has been issued a last name, though it may come up at a later date.

In modern settings, Ethan would be a businessman in a suit, and Diana would wear a compass around her neck and likely be in a largely outdoor based field such as a geologist.
