Planning on going to the Trona Pinnacles again tomorrow night for some new moon starscape shooting. Last time, if you recall 4.5 months ago, the results werent so good =X So I wanted to practice in the back yard with the lens I was hoping to use (Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8). I was mostly hoping to screw around, but low and behold I got something good!

MUCH better than the last time I tried to do this sort of thing! I really didnt need to do black and white on this one either since the noise was really quite low! I just liked how the textures and backlighting on the fence came out in BW.

What I did: basic raw tweaks (black and white, camera calibration to landscape, etc.), DIDNT drop the noise at all with luminescence, added a gradient filter where I maxed the contrast and clarity on the stars, content aware removed a handful of noise spots, applied my newly learned unsharp mask (150%, 0.2 pixels, 0 threshold).
