I referenced this cartoon in a post by
rabbi-tom. John Jones (alias "Jon") held a role in the British Army not dissimilar to Bill Mauldin, in that he did (very good) humorous cartoons for Union Jack, the British Army equivalent of Stars and Stripes (this after suffering from severe shellshock). "The Two Types" were a pair of scruffy 8th Army officers, dressed in the very informal fashion of that famed unit. Here, one of them is asking a Gurkha for a loan of his famous knife. The joke being the absurdity of using such a famed weapon to sharpen a pencil. BIt of background here: https://www.original-political-cart.....ons-two-types/

Sadly not comical at all.
But from the same time period.
And from my side of the conflict.

The one thing hilarious to me is that todays news from .. ahhh... countries with a government that Ol' Adolf would find okay are basically still the same, by content, pathos, self glorification and bullshittery.
