18 years. For a cat, that's pretty damn good. The hardest part of loving, is that it gives us so much to lose. But love is the most special of all things, and the courage to love in spite of how weak it makes us, IS strength. I have no doubt you spoiled your cat and gave them the best life you could. I'm sure their life was filled with love, attention, affection, the only things that truly matter in the end. It's the only thing that we can take with us, the deep, tender moments of our lives shall be the only measurement. Not wealth, not power, or material things. LOVE. Love is the very thing that binds us and makes life worth living, and anything truly loved shall never die. Simply inconvenienced by the lack of a mortal body. No one lives forever. Not us, not our loved ones, our family. The point of life is not to live forever. It's to create something wonderful that lasts beyond our mortal bodies. It's to touch lives, to savor the bonds we share. It is only through this that true immortality IS possible, and achieved. Your cat will always live on through the wonderful life you no doubt gave them, and 18 years worth of it is quite a lot. Just one special day would have been enough - you gave them 18 years of it. Remember this, as you remember your cat and cherish them. Cherish their memory, and they will never die. They'll always be with you.

Thank you for your beautiful words. I greatly appreciate it. She was very spoiled and deeply loved. Which is why the pain hurts so much. But I'll always have memories and pictures of her. And I'm having her cremated so she will come back to me.
