A new drake appears! I bought this guy off of "https://www.patreon.com/Spacedrakes/posts" as a pre-made design with permission to make some tweaks. I wound up drawing a new base to map things out. His name is Ambrose, he's a little bit feral - what you'd consider "aberrant" by the species standard - and rarely speaks, if at all. But he makes a great guard!
He's covered in scars and has premature silver streaks in his mane and tail, signs of stressful hardships past from when he was marooned on a wilderness escort job gone wrong for an indefinite period of time, that left him a little less than coherent by the time he was found again. Circe was out on a field research job and just so happened to come across him, alive, and managed to work to gain his trust enough that he came back with her. It took some effort as he had effectively been living as a wild animal that saw others like him as a threat, but she was patient and knew what she was doing.
Ambrose is now Circe's "escort" to more dangerous areas, being bigger and stronger and more seasoned with combat. He used to be more mentally organized back in the day, capable of planning ahead very well, but these days he's a glorified guardian dog. He won't ever be the same level of "civilized" that he was in the past. When he's not on the lookout, he's needlessly touchy towards his charge. It comes with the "must guard this person" territory. Circe warms up to it eventually, and feels empowered to have this dangerous drake treat her so, but it can be annoying when he just plonks against her with no warning.
Edit 3/31/2024: I learned some lore about how markings are altered on drakes when they undergo aberration, and I decided to tweak Ambrose's markings to reflect that. The older set is the markings he had prior to going feral, and this new set is what he currently looks like. They're more distorted and especially the back markings are spreading outwards versus how it was a neat bordered diamond-shape before. He also got some spread-out eye markings versus the neat "eye-liner" he had before.
