The current Hartstock who hunts the monsters of Irville Pines. She trained under her grandfather, Eli, who she still sing praises about, even to this day. She's very proud of her family history and the hunters who came before her. A view that isn't shared by the rest of her non-hunting family. Her father was especially opposed to it all, claiming it's nothing but irresponsible and careless. He had as little as he could to do with his own father (Eli) because of this.
When she was 16, her parents made the decision to move away from town, much to Ezzie's dismay. She'd spent a lot of time in secret, reading the other hunter’s journals, and even more with her grandfather, listening to the stories he had to tell about his hunts. She knew she was destined to be a hunter; moving away to a normal town and living a normal life was not an option for her. She had to stay, and so she told them the truth... It went down about as well as she expected, that is to say, very poorly. Many hurtful things were said and the whole debacle ended with them renouncing her and leaving her behind with Eli.
With her parents absent and Eli looking after her, she figured she'd put her all into the hunter's life. She picked up a barista job at a coffee shop for funds and dropped out of school to give herself more time to train. She studied the old hunter's journals and trained almost every day. Eli was a great mentor too; he knew plenty about the town and its weird ways. The two of them made an excellent team and kept the town safe together for a good few years. Eli was quite old by this point though, and with such a capable protegee, decided to retire from hunting and relax for his final years.
When Ezzie was 23, Eli passed away. She knew he wouldn't be around forever, that she'd have to accept it and move on. But that's a much easier thing to say beforehand. The whole thing hit her a lot harder than she'd anticipated. Eli was the only family she had (or at least the only family who would still talk to her). But she wasn't entirely alone. She'd made some really close friends over the years who supported her through it all. And with time, the pain eased. She found she could tell his stories and reminisce on their time together with a smile.
These days she’s living her dream life. Surveying the town and Keeping people safe. Filling out her own journal with every oddity the town has to show. She’s still young, but seems to have it all figured out.
