Older pic. Full screen please. Seriously. Transparent backround, you know?
Project Skyfall, aka Project Bi-Ondori (BS otakuese for 'Beautiful rooster'), aka Project Someday I Will Actually Sit Down And Explain WTF This Is About And Why The Fixation On Roosters (besides the lame "that's my Zodiac sign" excuse). This, like most of my other story ideas, suffers from the fact that I get so entertained just trying to perfect the character designs that I forget about pretty much everything else, or sometimes I come up with plenty of new ideas but they keep piling up on top of the main story and make things alot more complicated than is really required. Case in point, this particular gentleman here, a J-rockin' Japanese Golden Phoenix(hence the name, which means 'phoenix wing'), was supposed to just be a relative (brother) to one of the main characters from the story (who I've yet to share), who makes his debut when his band, Crush On Phoenix is threatened by one the story's main bad guys. After things get resolved, we see him on rare occasions and then never again - a recurring character. What happens, though? I get so enamored trying to refine his design (and that of the overall 'look' for the characters in this universe) that I went and gave him a more extended side-story that only relates to the main one by being in the same setting. These clothes he has on here are actually pretty mundane in comparison to the overblown, visual kei-inspired costumes he 's supposed to wear on-stage!
So will I ever finish the tentatively-called Skyfall project or the Crush On Phoenix side-story someday? Not sure, but Hou-kun here is at least telling me that I've nailed the look I've been searching for style-wise (took me *years* to get something I was satisfied with)! Now it's just a matter of drawing the rest of the characters in this style and I'll be on my way! Of course, I was able to nail the look for the *avian* characters, but I'm not sure as to how to go about doing the *non-avians* yet...
P.S., no bitching on the anatomy or the fact that the pose makes him look like he's missing an arm/wing (there's a rooster character in the main story who actually IS missing one, but this ain't him). I'm aware it's faulty. Just because I nailed the basic design doesn't mean I've *perfected* it...

Fave of the batch, and am a sucker for roosters - just haven't braved trying to draw any myself yet (or show what I have attempted off at least).
Love you left his spurs on, but gotta imagine its a pain getting into those slender pants with 'em and those talons - takes discipline at the very least :>

You know, the spur thing didn't even dawn on me until you mentioned it? But yes, I can well gloss over this detail by saying he suffers THIS much for the sake of fashion! *note to self, make him wear pants with zippers or buttons on the pants legs for future pics...or make him go all-out with his love for being flamboyant and get him something dressy like his stage wear probably is*
