gerrark was asking me about the specifics of my swirly-eyes earlier, and it got me thinking about how such things are rendered. I used to think that hypnosis was fake, but an encounter with Pauline Oliveros changed my mind on the subject. She gave a "deep listening" workshop in conjunction with a performance at my old university, and I was definitely induced into a trance by her instruction. I have yet to be hypnotized properly, and I would not be opposed to it.
It's not my fetish, but so long as no one is getting hurt I support sexual exploration and expression. That's why these both of guys are friends who consent to mutual mind control shenanigans!

Apparently, in order to be hypnotized you have to be willing to be hypnotized. I volunteered to be hypnotized with several other people by a stage hypnotist a while back, but, being too curious to see how the process worked, it didn't work on me. I'd imagine that trying to hypnotize someone against their will would require some considerable preliminary work first, such as inducing a trance through extreme boredom, monotony, or something similar hidden within the surroundings, and then hypnotizing them once their guard is lowered. Just my guess, though.
I think that "against the will" falls into the classification of "brainwashing"- there's got to be so much information about that on the web given the extent which it was a 20th Century obsession.
I read a load of interesting stuff about the mesmerism/hypnotism crazes of the past (late 1700's-1800's), all the "magnetic fluid" experiments, etc. It's fascinating to look into.
