so a friend of mine on discord has come up with a “gordon mutates into a big burrowing monster” au, and i felt the need to doodle up an idea of what he might look like based on the basic ideas she gave for his looks.

if his eyesight was bad before, he is now straight-up blind. enhanced sense of smell and sensitive whiskers make up for that tho. the ‘teeth’ you can see are less teeth and more like rhino horn material. they interlock together to keep dirt out of his mouth and really exist for the intimidation factor. his actual teeth are the sort more suited for crushing things. the spines on his back can lay flat while he’s burrowing… and they also glow + emit a humming noise when he vibrates them. (being force fed sweet voice during the rescas may or may not have influenced his mutation just a tiny bit :)c )

it's not a permanent transformation- he can shift back and forth between this and his original human looks... but only after he's had some serious mental TLC. i won't go into anymore detail because my friend is writing a full-on fic of this, and i don't wanna spoil nothin'!

we've affectionately nicknamed him "capygordo" after i noticed that his head kinda looks like a monstrous capybara...
also been comparing him to the 'badgermoles' from A:tLA, because, well, he's basically a mole, and also his grey side stripes reminded everybody of badgers. he's nowhere NEAR as big as the badgermoles, though, ha ha :P

i have no idea if i should put this in my "fanart" or "not fanart" folder oops. i mean, it's my (and my friend's) own original design... but for a character that ISN'T ours. so. hm. bah, i'll just slap it in the "ref sheets" folder and call it a day
