Who considers them dangerous? They are not opportunistic enough to go after swimmers and even when I accidentally drifted against the bait bucket the smaller ones let me and the biggest one got mildly annoyed.
If you know the basic rules of shark diving, the most dangerous part about meeting them is getting there with all the weird half broken boats, busses and whatnot you have to take to get around in places that still have sharks.

It is different if you are shipwrecked, on the surface, not holding eye contact. Once you appear like dead meat you might get bitten. But if you pay attention to the sharks they are quite repectful. After all a diver is a big chonky noisy scary thing.
