So...I wonder what this "Chaser" dude is up to when he's not drawing anything...hmm?
Err, well I think he's in some sort of 3d crazy state...or something, you should ask him!
Anyway, if you didn't guess it from the title or the image header, I have a "little" secret project going on. That's all!
Btw, the room in the quick renders is only a google sketchup (I love the 3d warehouse) mockup to test if things add up. Minor stuff like bed and desk + the lighting and character of course is 3ds max 2011....in case you wondered. And no, not tesxtured, only semi-clay renders! ;D
G'night.

How long did what take me? xD The lights, the "head" as I call him, his body (not showing), the room? Haha, anyway, to spare you a comment: Lights took a few minutes with vray, room took around half an hour because I couldn't decide on stuff, Mr. head is running his third day because I'm picky with edgeflow and precise shape, same with the body. Renders took a few seconds here and there on low production (test) settings.
Hehe, as I said the lighting isn't that complicated but organic polymodeling is tricky.
Here's a link to a good studio lighting vray tut:

Btw, AfterEffects is awesome! >;D

Nice looking room you've got going on there so far!
Why something as limited as 3dsmax and with weird workflows, though? I thought people stopped using that years ago when it was still popular for creating Quake 2 models! I honestly thought the company went out of business. Why not Maya? Real easy learning curve, incredibly powerful, fast, and building a small render farm really is awesome. Though I've only done the render farm thing with ScreamerNet for Lightwave; Such a PITA, too.
Though I guess to be fair to my own question, it's all the same stuff in a different package now by the looks of it since Autodesk creates both applications and it's the same bloody price; too damn expensive!

"The software is just a tool...the person behind it is where the art and the magic comes from."
I honestly don't care which software is superior since you can do beautiful things with both 3ds and maya. The way I feel it, max is a better modeling tool and maya a better animation and render tool. Maya and I are still...not friends, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I plan to finalize work in maya if things go well but sticking to max for most of my modeling.
In the end one just have to learn "all" the apps and use the best of them, just like I used sketchup for the room and imported it in max. Doing the same room in max (or maya) would've been a pain in the ass.
And hey! If you have any advice or the like please do share! =)
