COMMISSION NOTES
It was fun working with Rufran on a lighter-themed picture. Being introduced to Nixie was a treat, I really fell in love with her design!
This one ended up a little differently than I envisioned in the color thumbnail. There can be a bit of tension there. Thumbnails are designed to look good and hint at the end result, but they're different from how I like a finished work to look. Going from thumbnail to finish is kind of a work of translation. You have to lose some qualities of the former but still try to keep its spirit, if that makes sense.
The composition on this one ended up being tough. Indicating the path of destruction was trouble since there's so much else going on. With Nixie she's got that brown train, and the destruction behind her was brown as well, so contrast was an issue. Now I'd probably just make the destruction a completely different color even if it isn't literally correct.
