How Neville has turned from a downy li’l chick into the full-grown male nightjar he is.
I had the idea that the fledgling phase of the birds could be the bird equivalent for the puberty, that’s why I gave teenage Neville a lanky, bit awkward-looking body and uneven plumage which he used to feel really embarrassed about.😅
During his years at the Police Academy, Neville has built some muscles, even though in the end of his 20’ he has somewhat filled out, due his lifestyle (having to do paperwork instead of field duty, ordering takeout, drinking booze or eating whenever he felt stressed out, and such). His thicker midsection - however - isn’t just about food. It’s about fatigue, resignation, boredom and stress. He isn’t really out of shape yet - he’s just rather bitter and tired, at his body reflects that.
The last pic is kinda spoilery, so I won’t talk about it just now. 🤐
(Btw, Nevvie still got those fine, hair-like feathers on the top of his head, he just prefers to wear them slicked back, because he thinks they make him look younger.)
