Oh as you go on reading you'll find that the most affected thing in Equestria is Bad Apple's villainy. It's not that he's bad at it. It's more that he's so good he's... Good. He falls somewhere between Sly Cooper (who relishes villainy but does good as a kind of side-effect for the challenge) and Robin Hood (who is operating from a different moral principle, depending on the tale, either as a poor-protector or that plus a Saxon rebel defending the oppressed ethnic minority). He tends to be more of a Robin Hood when it comes to regular folks and a Sly Cooper when he can see somepony is a villain. He's a surprisingly complex stallion.
And yes. Racism is bad. Braeburn's a sweet little silly. And LSH is a real cutie herself. They belong together.
