So fun facts about Final Fantasy X: Future Kingdom Hearts director, Tetsuya Nomura, got lead character design on FFX. Which is where he really started to lean into cut off shorts and belts.
Which brings me to fun fact 2: The animators and programmers absolutely HATED rendering Lulu from the waist down because of that belt monstrosity she was wearing as a "dress," so they would just show her from the waist up any time they could.
