A Kwanzaa related piece featuring Whisper and Ransley- I've wanted to draw a Kwanzaa piece for a while now as I've been trying to draw art pieces commemorating holidays that aren't often portrayed in mainstream media as commonly as Christmas, and I'm really happy that I got the chance to draw a piece this year, especially with the holiday's importance with representing African heritage, culture and community and celebrating African cultures. :D
So I drew Whisper lighting the kinara (the candles representing the stalk from which all African people came) with the mazao (crops representing traditional harvest celebrations and honouring those who harvested them). :) This was one of the websites I was reading while carrying out my research and it has some more of the meaning and history of the holiday here - https://www.interexchange.org/blog/.....ols-of-kwanzaa
I loved designing the clothes and posters - was inspired by a heavy metal and psychedelic bands :D I think I've really improved on background and setting design this year. :D
If anyone who celebrates Kwanzaa sees this piece, I hope you enjoy it and that I did your holiday justice. :)
