Some years ago, I used to experiment with some one-of-a-kind greeting cards I'd made for certain friends. One of those friends was 'Caleb Fox' (who was often drawn in an obese size).
In my birthday card for 'Caleb', I carefully drew his round body and head centered on the fold line; then, using an X-acto knife, I (very carefully) cut away the bottom and top portions of the entire figure, and left small perforated marks on the uncut sides. (BTW, the tail was left alone altogether.) Finally, I carefully placed my hand underneath the card and pushed the figure, so that it would fold outwardly, instead of inwards. As a result, 'Caleb' received a pop-up greeting card, with the big belly of his likeness protruding when he opened it up!
This revised version of the artwork came from a photocopy of the greeting card (I'd kept for posterity) - which I've scanned and added color and shading through my Paint.net program...
The original excerpted version was drawn with fine-line marker pens and colored pencils, and can be seen in my gallery in "The Round House" at http://roundhouse.wulfnet.net/galle.....Belly.jpg.html
