I promised to scan an old piece of art from 1980, and ,while I was a day late, I did get it done tonight. It was a period in which I was doing work in collaboration with another artist named Jerry Collins. And while this is entirely my effort, the character on the right is my drawing of one of his characters. It is a bit clunky, but I recognized now that I was still working on the perfection of my own character, Saara Mar. Being dissatisfied with it slightly, I've made a couple of very small changes with Photoshop. I doubt anyone would notice witout a jeweler's loop, but I know where to look! The original art was in pretty good shape, but scanning it with exactly the right sensitivity was, as usual, a bit of a challenge. Too dark, and smudges and pencil lights would pick up. Too light and the ink would fade. In the end, an "easy job" still took an hour to get it right. I began another piece that also supposed to be "easy," and comparatively speaking it was. But it still took time, and I decided to sign off for the night, to complete the work tomorrow.

That was just Jerry's "thing," you know? Hot "babes" in military uniform, armed to the teeth, hoisting beer steins and doing everything German. I was interested in military hardware but not to that extent, and was never interested in the military itself, just the hardware ... and history.
