Paper Thin

There are those times
where you sicken even yourself;
your facade of lies of wellness
as you count every calorie
that passes your lips
to slither down your gullet
and in to a belly containing:
only one tea
a yoghurt
and salad
only 500 calories- being gratuitous
and yet you still feel like
you've eaten the entire buffet
the 'c' word haunting you
as you kneel on icy linoleum
the voice of your mother in your mind
berating you for weighing more
than the sheets of paper
that you are made of;
sticky notes would
come fluttering out
past chapped lips
and between chubby fingers
as you watch in disbelief
what you have driven yourself to
that you really have fallen this far
in desperation to be
as thin as the papers in the novels you wrote
