i would have to beg to differ. we rarely ever weld with gas mix torches for one. what we actually do is take a piece of scrap steel, set it on top of the sandwich and run a bead in a WWW pattern, flip sandwich over, put plate back on..fill in some of the V's if it isn't hot enough.
more often though I just roast burritos or quesadillas in a pipe. it's faster. stuff into pipe, screw on drilled pipe caps (1/4 or bigger holes, we ain't making a pipe bomb!) run a few beads along the pipe....boom lunch for 5-6 guys. we make pipe coffee the same way.
